Zimbabwean choreographer and movement director Mandy Demetriou has worked in a wide variety of styles and methods. Her work has included opera, theatre, film and television. Opera credits include Venus and Adonis/Come, ye Sons of Art (Samling Academy Opera); Mansfield Park (Grange Festival); The Vanishing Bridegroom, Paul Bunyan, The Bartered Bride, Die Zauberflöte, Albert Herring, Roméo et Juliette and La rondine (British Youth Opera); The Dancing Master (Guildhall School of Music & Drama); La Cenerentola (Clapham Opera); El Gato con Botas, Yes, Sevastopol, L’isola disabitata (Linbury Theatre); Hansel and Gretel (Opera North); Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana, Lucia di Lammermoor, La fille du régiment and Il trovatore (Opera Holland Park); Le nozze di Figaro (English National Opera); and The Snow Maiden (Wexford Opera). Stage credits include Maria de Buenos Aires (Buxton Festival); Berlin to Broadway in Copenhagen; The Madras House (Lyric Hammersmith); The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband (Nottingham Playhouse); Glorious (Duchess Theatre); Pride and Prejudice, Emma and The Secret Diaries of Samuel Pepys (Good Company); and The Diary of One Who Disappeared (Arcola Theatre). Mandy also works with artists at the Royal Opera House on the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme, at the National Opera Studio and on the Royal Academy Opera Course coaching movement and dance and working with young singers to get the body to support the voice.
She is a regular leader on the Samling Artist Programme and Samling Academy and has worked as movement director / choreographer for Samling Academy Opera.
