Oxford Lieder
Oxford Lieder celebrates its 20th anniversary season with two weeks of song and events (8 – 23 October), and a theme focussing on nature, in partnership with Oxford Botanic Garden. A host of Samling Artist singers and pianists are taking part in this year’s festival, from emerging artists to established stars:

Award winners
Lauren Fagan and Claire Barnett-Jones are among eight singers from around the world to have been awarded prizes by The Elizabeth Connell Prize International Singing Competition. This year the competition was held online, and has awarded cash grants to assist singers who have lost work as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
New recording
Ruby Hughes and Joseph Middleton, have released a new recital disc, ‘Songs for New Life and Love’, based around Bright Travellers, a cycle by Helen Grime, which Ruby and Joseph premiered in 2018, alongside cycles by Gustav Mahler and a selection of songs by Charles Ives.

Samling Artists in the North East
English Touring Opera bring a concert performance of Handel’s rarely performed opera Amadigi to Hexham Abbey on Tuesday 5 October, with Tim Morgan in the title role and Rebecca Afonwy Jones as Dardano.
