Noted for a ‘superbly voiced instrumental partnership of his singer’ and ‘spectacular, sensitive and vivid accompaniment’, George Ireland enjoys a thriving career in recital and opera. From a working-class, non-musical home, he began to play the piano from scratch, self-taught, at the age of 14 and recently graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music. Recent highlights include conducting a performance of Eugene Onegin for Hampstead Garden Opera, winning the New Voices competition with Judith Lebreuilly and a recital at the Tuscan Crete Senesi festival with Guy Cutting. This year, he performs recitals with Hugh Cutting at the Edinburgh International Festival and Wiener Konzerthaus. He is a former Young Artist for Oxford Song and Leeds Lieder.
