Emma Roberts graduated from the Royal College of Music Opera Studio with an Artist Diploma in Opera and is now a member of the National Opera Studio and a Britten Pears Young Artist. Her operatic roles include Minskwoman Flight, Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel, Orfeo Orfeo ed Euridice, Eduige Rodelinda, Third Lady Die Zauberflöte, Lola Cavalleria Rusticana, title role in Mascagni’s Zanetto and Hypolita A Midsummer Night’s Dream. At National Opera Studio, Emma performed in scenes as part of a residency at Welsh National Opera in Hoddinott Hall directed by Linda Kitchen and conducted by Wyn Davies.
As a Britten Pears Young Artist, Emma participated in the 2022 ‘arias week’ led by Sir Antonio Pappano, Julia Faulkner and Gweneth Ann Rand and gave a recital with pianist Elli Welsh at the Red House. Other concert appearances include Oxford Lieder; the Ludlow English Song Festival; an Athenaeum Club lunchtime recital curated by Sir Thomas Allen; a Raynham Hall recital curated by Michael Chance CBE; Prokofiev Alexander Nevsky with Martin Brabbins and Mark Biggins; Mark Anthony Turnage’s Twice Through the Heart; and Verdi Requiem at Leith Hill Musical Festival.
In 2022 Emma was awarded the Loveday Song Prize and overall second Prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards and first Prize in the Joan Chissell Schumann Competition at RCM.
