Euan McDonald

Tenor, Samling Artist Programme: 2024

Scottish tenor Euan McDonald is currently in his last year of his Masters in Vocal Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the guidance of Scott Johnson. Euan is generously supported by The Countess of Munster Musical Trust, The Sir James Caird Scholarship Trust and the RCS Scholarship fund.

Euan’s most recently made his role debut as Tamino Die Zauberflöte with Weimar Lyric Opera Studio.

In August 2024, Euan performed as one of the tenor soloists in Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle at the Edinburgh International Festival ‘Exploring Rossini’ project, directed by James Baillieu. Euan’s concert highlights include Scattered Rhymes Choral Tour with Dunedin Consort (2024), tenor soloist in Britten Rejoice in the Lamb (Edinburgh International Festival, 2023), tenor soloist in Mozart’s Requiem (2023, 2023, 2022, 2019), HaydnThe Creation (2024, 2022), Brahms Liebeslieder (2023), Handel Messiah (2021), As a Leverhulme Scholar and as a member of the National Youth Choir of Scotland, Euan has performed in venues such as Usher Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall and the Philarmonie de Paris.

In December 2024, Euan became a Samling Artist where he spent an intensive week working with Barbara Frittoli, Caroline Dowdle and James Garnon. He was recently part of Sir James MacMillan mentoring programme which culminated in an octet performance in the 2024 Cumnock Tryst. In 2023/24 Euan was a Dunedin Bridging the Gap Young Artist and in 2022/23 he was one of Karen Cargill’s Associate Artists. Within the RCS, Euan was the winner of the Elgar Spedding Memorial Lieder Prize and the winner of the Hugh S Roberton Prize for Scottish Singing and highly commended in the Leonie Kayser Competition.
