Zany Denyer is a London based pianist specialising in chamber music and vocal accompaniment.
As a passionate accompanist, Zany enjoys uncovering the intricate world of Lieder with his regular duo partners and throughout his studies has won numerous accompanist awards. Most recently he was awarded first prize at the Royal Academy of Music’s Schumann Lieder Competition. During the summer of 2023, he was one of 15 pianists selected to take part in the Franz Schubert Institut’s intensive 5 week programme in Baden bei Wien with one of his regular duo partners, Aksel Rykkvin, where he had the privilege to take part in masterclasses with artists including Elly Ameling, Helmut Deutsch, Robert Höll and Wolfram Rieger.
Zany is co-founder of the award-winning ensemble, Trio Havisham, which has found success in various competitions, from winning first prize at the CAVATINA Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition at Wigmore Hall in May 2022, to reaching the finals of the Birmingham International Piano Chamber Music Competition in November of the same year. In April 2023 they were awarded 2nd prize at the Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Lyon.
Alongside competition success, the trio has won numerous awards including one of the the 2022 Tunnell Trust Music Club awards, which saw them tour Scotland in October 2023, and the Musicians’ Company Award at Wigmore Hall in February 2023; they are delighted to now be part of the Musicians’ Company five-year Young Artists’ Programme. They have also been invited to be members of ChamberStudio UK’s 2023/24 Hans Keller Forum in Cambridge.
Zany also regularly performs as a soloist. Recent concerto engagements include performances of Prokofiev’s 3rd Piano Concerto and the Grieg Piano Concerto.
Zany studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Murray Mclachlan before being offered a full ABRSM scholarship to continue his postgraduate studies with Michael Dussek and James Baillieu at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
