Samling Artist Profile: Romanas Kudriašovas

Today we’re profiling Samling Artist Romanas Kudriašovas.

Lithuanian baritone Romanas Kudriašovas is a current National Opera Studio Young Artist. He played violin and piano from the age of seven and after initially training as a conductor studied opera singing in Lithuania, Hamburg and at the Wales International Academy of Voice.

A prize-winner in several competitions, Romanas is also a keen recitalist and oratorio singer having performed over 20 recitals in North Germany as well as a dozen in his home country.

The Telegraph praised his performance with the European Opera Centre as Lockit in Britten‘s The Beggar‘s Opera, pointing to his ‘acidic voice [with] shades of Alan Rickman in speech and John Shirley-Quirk in song’ which ‘certainly catches the ear’ – you can read the full review here.

Romanas will be joined by seven other Samling Artists in a public Masterclass and Concert on Saturday 27 February at Sage Two, Sage Gateshead, led by internationally-renowned mezzo Ann Murray DBE, the great German baritone Olaf Bär and Royal Opera House pianist Caroline Dowdle. Visit the Sage Gateshead website or call 0191 443 4661 to book tickets.
