Today’s Samling Artist Profile is all about soprano Katie Lowe.
Katie graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music and continued her studies at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice and the Royal College of Music on the International Opera Course.
She returned to RNCM last September to complete her studies on the International Artist Diploma.
Katie recently performed the role of Anna Maurrant in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene at the RNCM. OPERA magazine wrote of her performance that ‘in purely vocal terms Katie Lowe as Anna and Michaela Parry as Rose were perhaps the stars of the evening’, adding that ‘Lowe’s singing of Somehow I Never Could Believe offered the promise of a fine dramatic soprano.’
Katie will be joined by seven other Samling Artists in a public Masterclass and Concert on Saturday 27 February at Sage Two, Sage Gateshead, led by internationally-renowned mezzo Ann Murray DBE, the great German baritone Olaf Bär and Royal Opera House pianist Caroline Dowdle. Visit the Sage Gateshead website or call 0191 443 4661 to book tickets.
